FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of Lactation Counselor Certification Program Manager for the USAID Jordan Community Health and Nutrition project. The Community Health and Nutrition project (CHN) aims to improve the nutritional status of children under five and pregnant and lactating women in target areas in Jordan. The Lactation Counselor Certification Program is the first in the country. It supports the creation of lactation counselors who will provide qualified and skilled support to pregnant women, women and their infants and young children less than two years of age, and their families.

The Lactation Counselor Certification Program Manager will oversee, manage, and coordinate the various activities related to the Lactation Counselor Certification Program to ensure successful implementation in a timely fashion in line with the agreed annual plans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of the LC certification program activities.
  • Support, guide, and monitor the LC officers in their daily activities.
  • Ensure the validation of the various LC certification program reports submitted by the various health facilities.
  • Contribute to the LC certification program implementation, learning, monitoring, and evaluation through active collaboration with project teams.
  • Coordinate the improvement of any relevant materials and documents for the LC certification program.
  • Oversee and ensure the successful planning and organization of relevant LC certification program activities, including but not limited to a) classroom training, b) clinical practices, c) practicum activities, d) workshops and reviews, e) final exam, f) certification ceremonies.
  • Contribute to the learning agenda by preparing relevant documents, briefs, and presentations, including conducting relevant literature reviews, landscape analyses, and data analysis as needed and requested.
  • Collaborate and engage the CHN Maternal, Infant, Young Children Nutrition Model Services team to ensure the successful implementation of the LC services at the model health facilities and communities.
  • Coordinate the various LC certification program activities with external partners and collaborators, including HCAC, Councils, Universities, Ministry of Health at the central and health directorate levels.
  • Assist the CHN team in identifying potential partners to sustain the LC certification program.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports as needed on the progress of implementation of the LC certification program, success, strengths, challenges, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain diplomatic and high-quality interactions and clear and consistent communications internally and with partners in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Master (MSc) in public health, nutrition, or related health field, with an emphasis on community nutrition, public health nutrition, Social and Behavior Change Communication, or other relevant sub-specialty.
  • At least six years of experience and expertise in training and coordination of activities related to breastfeeding, lactation counseling support, and Infant and Young Child Feeding programming is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of partners, including government, community-based organizations, implementing partners, and other donor organizations.
  • Prior experience in the Jordan nutrition sector is desirable, including experience at the community, district, sub-national, and national levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English required.
