About YLDF

Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF) is a non-governmental non-profit organization, located in Sana’a capital city of Yemen. YLDF was founded to support youth in voicing their opinions and needs, and participating in Yemen’s development, especially underprivileged and female youth. 

Background

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Sr. Project Coordinator will take the lead in guiding the overall design and setting-up of systems for the implementation will lead the implementation of the YLDF programs. The role will facilitate the capacity building of the team to ensure implementation of the program is in-line with YLDF Emergency Strategy the FSAC standards. This position will provide strategic direction and technical assistance and support for the project team, technical and field team on the implementation of projects interventions with the integration of gender and protection mainstreaming throughout all project activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1- Be directly responsible for the technical guidance, management and implementation of the project activities in the targeted districts.

2- Responsible for programs budget management and that all expenditures are in line with YLDF and donor compliance standards.

3- Ensure activities are in line with Program Strategy, objectives, proposals & budgets; together with Project staff and formulate detailed implementation plans, risk management plans, spend plans and project cash forecast.

4- Ensure regular/monthly update and review for the detailed implementation plans, risk management plans, spend plans and project cash forecast.

5- Manage the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems and processes, ensuring project staff is clear on what is required, that quality is maintained as per agreed standards, lessons learnt are documented and applied for current and future projects.

6- Regular field visits to targeted districts within the project.

7- Effectively manage FSL projects using appropriate tools to ensure project is delivered on-time, on-budget and to the expected quality.

8- Maintain regular supervision and follow up with technical and field team to ensure the project activities are delivered on-time, on-budget and to the expected quality.

9- Maintain regular communication with support and operations department concerning to facilitate the implementation of the project activities.

10- Contribute to addressing problems in the field, and maintain regular and timely communication and information sharing with Programs manager.

11- Attend cluster/coordination meetings relevant to the project.

12- Develop monthly and/or quarterly procurement plans and initiate the processing of procurement needs for cash activities.

13- Lead coordination with Service Providers and their agents for timely transfers and reporting at the end of each disbursement cycle. Provide weekly, monthly, annually report, both narrative & quantitative when needed using YLDF/Donor templates.

14- Develop and facilitate team access to tools for use in beneficiary selection processes, registration, disbursement and monitoring.

16- Develop productive working relationships with community leaders and representatives, Government, Non-Governmental institutions and other project partners.

17- Maintain the highest standards of behavior when working with the project beneficiaries and targeted communities.

18- Holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modelling YLDF values.

19- As and when requested, represent YLDF in external forums, ensuring the YLDF profile is positively maintained as per YLDF values, objectives, strategy and advocacy plan. This includes proactively representing in cluster coordination meetings and maintaining contact with relevant local authorities and other agencies; ensuring that YLDF mandate, vision, approach an activity is understood and accepted

This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other related tasks as required and responsible for reporting and communication of progress and achievement of the specific assigned task including field visits to other governorates to supervise, implement wash projects.

Qualifications, and experience required:

  1. A recognized first degree or professional qualification in: business administration and management; development studies; politics; international relations, or a related field.
  2. Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role.
  3. Proven experience in the implementation of development projects at least 4 Years.
  4. Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in livelihood-related programming in Yemen (implementation and management of livelihood activities)
  5. Good understanding of implementation procedures and requirements..

Other Skills & Conditions:

  1. Strong Project Management Skills.
  2. Strong report writing skills.
  3. Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
  4. Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel within Yemen, and some international travel
  5. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with attention to detail and an orderly approach to tasks.
  6. Technical knowledge of income-generating activities (IGAs) and small and micro enterprises (SMEs), including business plans
  7. Good communication skills, written and oral.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and team-working skills;
  9. Flexibility in working in diverse situations with unpredictable working hours;
  10. Ability to travel as required within Yemen.
  11. A positive problem-solving approach and enthusiasm to learn and apply new skills;
  12. Ability to work in a non-partisan manner, appreciating gender, cultural and ethnic diversity.
  13. Excellent level of computer proficiency.
  14. Experience of Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation
  15. Networks of contacts within policy and government.
