Chief Accountant (Nahr Ibrahim)

The role of the Chief Accountant is to lead, manage and control the Accounts function to ensure the accurate and timely provision of accounting data, which enables internal decision-making and meets all statutory requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage the day to day operations of the Accounting department, delegate work activities, ensure that work processes are implemented and comply with established internal policy and procedures, as well as with legislative and statutory requirements, and that employees are performing according to the designated standards.
- Prepare key accounting statements and reports to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided to internal and external customers and representatives.
- Prepare the annual company budget in coordination with relevant managers, establish trends and compare actual against forecast, and submits to upper Management for approval.
- Prepare all accounting reports, VAT, salaries, tax declarations, social security schedules.
- Supervise the work of subordinates in technical matters to resolve all queries.
Insure a monthly financial closing, generate the P&L and cash-flow, provide necessary analysis and propose practical recommendations to upper Management.
- Communicate with the external auditors, banks, government inspectors, regulatory and legislative bodies, as required to ensure that all queries are answered in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Coordinate completion of internal and annual statutory audits and statements as per agreed schedules so that the company meets its statutory obligations and financial risk is minimized.
- Assure the accuracy of Petty Cash balance, bank statements, receivables, payables...
- Lead the development of subordinates in the accounting department, to ensure that capability and service standards are continually improved. Manage performance, motivate staff, and provide feedback and appraisal in order to maximize individual and departmental performance.
- Any other related tasks as per management’s request.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor in Business, Accounting, Finance, or any related field from a reputable institution.
- MBA or Relevant Professional Certification in Finance are a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in an accounting/finance role with minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
- Fluency in English. French is a plus.
- Excellent numeracy and computer literacy and good knowledge of ERP and other related software.
- Meticulous, perfectionist and vigilant with developed common sense.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills: ability to gather, analyze and convey information skillfully.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.
