Job Location: NEOM<br/><br/>Role Purpose:
The Environmental Assessment and Permitting Team within NEOM is searching or a dynamic and innovative environmental professional to lead the Environmental Impact Assessment Team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced career professional with highly developed technical knowledge, organization and management skills. The NEOM giga-project aims to be the most environmental conscious and sustainable development project on the planet.
The Environmental Impact Assessment Manager manages the team responsible for coordination and oversight of programs run by Environmental Consultants for NEOM developments. They ensure effective, high quality and timely assessment of proposed activities and projects, which is critical to the world-class execution of NEOM infrastructure, economic and growth strategies. They drive the implementation of best practice and innovative processes to meet NEOM goals for a world class environmental planning system. The role requires:
• C oordinating the Environmental Assessment system
• Development of a high performing team to match forecast project delivery demands
• Providing technical and management supervision of team
• Ensuring coordination of multiple Environmental Assessment processes at the Activity (project level) including project timelines and deliverables
• Developing and maintaining regional impact assessment across the Line region with a focus on culmulative impacts.
• Acting as an interface between NEOM s internal sectors, external proponents, and external Environmental Consultants.
• Review and assessment of technical environmental approval reports and documentation submitted by Sector Proponents or external Environmental Consultants, in line with NEOM policy and planning objectives.
• Ensuring continued alignment of NEOM s environmental planning and approval systems with IFC performance standards and world s best practice.
• Development of procedures, guidelines and documents to further improve the Management Systems and its application.
• Procurement and management of a programs run by Environmental Consultants that support the Assessment & Approvals team
• Identifying and contributing to planning and post approval initiatives in a dynamic and complex environment with tight timeframes, competing priorities and conflicting stakeholder s needs, views and opinions.
Engaging with divisions and departments up to Project CEO level to facilitate meeting NEOM s commitments and goals, specifically related to the environmental services department<br/><br/>Knowledge, Skills and Experience:<br/><br/>The Environmental Impact Assessment Manager has a track record of coordinating, delivering environmental impact assessment services under an advanced regulatory system at a Major Capital Project, mega-project, municipality or city scale.
The role will require:
• Minimum of eighteen (15) year-experience across the fields of environmental management, planning and assessment
• Strong written and verbal communication & report writing skills
• Strong supervision, people management and mentoring skills
• Program/contract management experience
• Proven record of successfully coordinating an environmental program or regulatory process.
• Strong technical environmental skills across marine or terrestrial environments<br/><br/>Qualifications:
As a minimum, a Bachelor s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, or similar<br/><br/>Company Industry
