Summary / purpose of the position

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Manager leads and manages the MSL team in North Africa countries, ensuring in conjunction with the other medical functions and that ethical, compliant, timely and effective medical and scientific expertise and initiatives are provided and are aligned with North Africa Medical strategies and medical department objectives.

The MSL Manager is 80% field based:

- 40% providing coaching, training, and support to the MSL team activity medical and scientific initiatives for marketed and pipeline products (on a non-promotional basis); identifying local opportunities by using the knowledge of Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) on the therapeutic area; in the development and implementation of the scientific activities and the clinical plan.

- 40% field activity: visits of HCPs, HCOs and POs

- 20% : Upper management, reporting, collaboration with MA, MM

- Ensure the MSL team comply with all Ipsen SOPs, policies, directive, and relevant North Africa guidelines

- Ensure the MSL team achieve the communication of medical and educational objectives set for the assigned products/indications, within the framework of IPSEN North Africa strategy.

- Lead the MSL team to develop, maintain and support professional relationships with internal and external customers (e.g., Thought Leaders [TL], Health Care Professionals [HCPs], etc.).

- Lead the MSL team to facilitate informational, educational, and data generation activities for physicians regarding IPSEN’s current and pre-launch pipeline.

- Ensure the MSL team document, accurately and in a timely manner, the mentioned activities.

Main responsibilities / job expectations

Leadership and MSL team management:

• Ensure the MSL team’s manpower through efficient recruitment, ensure MSL qualification before any activities through adequate training and evaluation, grow and develop MSL members through continuous coaching.
• Ensure MSL team achievement through budget management and KPI management.
• Ensure the MSL team keep up-to-date knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas through continuous learnings.
• Ensure the MSL team fully comply with all Ipsen SOPs, policies, directive and relevant North Africa guidelines.

Maintaining updating and disseminating scientific knowledge:

• Ensure the dissemination of up-to-date knowledge as appropriate to HCPs in response to requests, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Ensure proactive providing fair, balanced, and transparent medical and scientific exchange in disease area management.

Maintain medical profiling database of HCPs and TLs:

• Lead the MSL team and ensure field activity for:
  • maintain current and explore potential sources of clinical and scientific expertise (known experts, rising stars, etc.), as well as current and potential principal investigators, speakers
  • Identify informational needs of individual TLs/HCPs (e.g., need for scientific information in disease area and therapy of individual TLs/HCPs) with Identification and initiation of opportunities to fulfil these needs.
  • Prepare and update TLs mapping and engagement plans for qualified HCPs

Knowledge, abilities & experience

Education / Certifications:

•      Degree in Medicine or other higher life science qualification.

Experience:

• Strong existing network of KOLs across the Cluster, especially oncologists
• Over 2-years’ experience of hospital KOL engagement Practice.

Languages:

• French - English

• Demonstrates excellent time management skills and is able to manage complex and to adapt to new circumstances and ideas.  Demonstrates an ability to be entrepreneurial and able to work in a highly dynamic environment.
